Franchisee Testimonials 1
Supanews Garden City Upper Level (QLD)
We wanted to enter into business in an industry that we knew if we put the customer first and we worked hard both in and on our business we would succeed and have fun. Supanews was an attractive proposition for us, as they are viewed as an emerging leader in the Newsagency Business. Their stores are well presented, organised and there is enormous potential for the brand to grow and be successful. The most impressive factor in the process of becoming Supanews Franchisees was the honesty of the communication we were receiving. The brand is new and evolving and we were made aware of the strengths of the system and the learnings that they have had to date. The depth of knowledge that Supanews has of this industry is exceptional. We have been very happy with the feedback we have been receiving, and the willingness of the Supanews Team to allow us to grow.
Knowing we were beginning a relationship from this basis was important to us. To date we have not been disappointed, and have put in plenty of hard work, but also had plenty of fun, too! We are looking forward to the future.

Having never worked in the retail industry, the idea of starting a career as a newsagent was daunting to say the least. After looking at various possibilities, a Supanews franchised outlet was the option which stood out to me, particularly being a sole operator.
The structured systems which are in place, made Supanews stand out above the alternatives. This included the franchisee’s operations manual, central accounts processing, uniformity of shop fittings and stock carried and no paper delivery runs. The endless assistance and advice, on which you can draw from many years of experience, are priceless.
Since becoming a franchisee late in 2004, the growth of the Supanews group has exceeded my expectations and can only be advantageous to those under the Supanews umbrella.
Coming from a courier background, I am proof that experience is not necessary. What you do need is a desire to learn and achieve, as running a newsagency is not an easy road to take but if you carefully research the area in which you are considering an outlet, the Supanews franchisee model does smooth out some of the bumps.

To become a part of the ever growing Supanews organization has been an exciting and rewarding experience for us. After selling our locally based business we were interested in another business that had direct contact with customers and where community relationships could be fostered. We had many warnings about the hard work and long hours a newsagency could be so were excited to discover the Supanews franchise group. We found an organization that could support us through the setup process and with day to day operations. They also expected the same high standards in business presentation and customer service we believed in.
From our first meeting with the Franchise Manager and in all our dealings with the Supanews team since, we have developed a great respect for the depth of knowledge and enthusiasm they have in the industry and the processes they have in place to run an effective newsagency. They forward their industry knowledge and franchise operations to you in a simple yet thorough process so you feel confidant before you begin. We had received extensive hands on training before stepping foot in our store as well as 1:1 assistance during the opening weeks. The store and systems were prepared for us, casual staff hired and trained so we could walk in on the first day and start trading – it was a great relief as the store was busy from day one.
For anybody thinking of entering this industry we would certainly recommend you contact Supanews about opportunities thye may have available.
As for the warnings of hard work and long hours- they are certainly a reality of any business but manageable with the fantastic support we have received at Supanews.

Having spent 20 years as a pilot, taking on a Supanews franchise was certainly a different change. Janet and I had been looking at a Newsagency as an investment for many years, but with the thought of delivering papers at 2am, didn’t go ahead with purchasing one. Then one day I was reading a franchise magazine and saw an advertisement for Supanews. Having made some enquiries, we met with Supanews to discuss what was on offer. The thing that appealed to us most, was that there was already a system in place, based on many years of experience. When I was made redundant earlier this year, the option to work for ourselves was clearly the way ahead. Having spent many years working long hours for an employer and being away a lot, it made sense to put that hard work into our own business, not for an employer. The whole process from the negotiation and due diligence, right through to the taking over the store was made easier by the assistance provided by everyone at Supanews, from the CEO down. The training and assistance provided was fantastic and having never worked in retail this is what made the transition easier. Since taking over the store we have had continual support from everyone in Supanews and the best thing is, there is always someone available to answer your questions and provide guidance. Janet and I have not regretted joining the Supanews family. Anyone looking at a newsagency should look at what Supanews has to offer.
